Plasma and electrial intern

Are you a practical-minded person who loves getting your hands on real hardware — from high-voltage supplies and sensors to plasma reactors? Do you enjoy designing, wiring, testing, and refining experiments to make complex systems actually work? This Plasma & Electrical Intern role might be for you.

As our activities expand, we’re looking for a Plasma &Electrical Intern to support reactor development, testing, and instrumentation in our lab and workshop.

You will work alongside our Lead Experimentalist and broader R&D team to design, assemble, and test experimental setups, with a focus on plasma generation, power electronics, measurement, and safety. Expect a mix of bench work, CAD/PCB basics, data collection/analysis, and careful documentation.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Experimental Setup & Testing: Assemble and instrument plasma reactor test rigs (gas handling, HV/RF supplies, interlocks, sensors); Run experiments, log parameters, and capture data; Help design test matrices and improve repeatability and safety
  • Electrical & Controls: Wire and validate circuits (HV/RF paths, filtering, grounding, shielding); Support simple PCB/proto boards (e.g., drivers, signal conditioning) and enclosure layouts; Implement basic control/automation (Arduino/STM32/PLC basics) and interlocks
  • Diagnostics, Data & Documentation: Perform measurements (current/voltage probes, power meters, thermal sensors, optical emission diagnostics where applicable); Process and visualize data (Python/Matlab/Excel) and draft concise experiment reports; Maintain BOMs, wiring diagrams, and lab notebooks to trace configurations and results
  • Operations & Safety: Contribute to EHS practices (risk assessments, HV/ozone/UV/gas safety, lock-out/tag-out, proper PPE); Keep the lab organized (calibration, consumables, equipment checklists); Coordinate light procurement for components and lead times

We are looking for:

  • Student or recent graduate in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics (plasma/energy), Mechatronics, or a related field (BSc/MSc)
  • Solid fundamentals in circuits/power electronics; curiosity for HV/RF and plasma systems; comfortable with lab instruments
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to tasks
  • Enthusiasm for learning and applying new engineering concepts
  • Excellent teamwork and communication abilities
  • Eagerness to participate in hands-on projects and gain practical experience.
  • Interest in climate-tech, sustainability, or deep-tech innovation
